Webcam Not Working on Teams? Complete Fix Guide

Microsoft Teams uses its own device settings, which means your camera can work everywhere else but still fail inside Teams. Here's how to fix it.

Check Teams Device Settings First

Teams: click your profile picture → Settings → Devices → make sure the correct camera is selected under Camera.
Click "Make changes to camera settings" in the same menu and enable the camera if Teams disabled it.
Close other apps using the camera (Zoom, Meet, OBS) — Teams often fails silently when the camera is busy.
Check the physical privacy shutter or Fn camera key on laptops.

Windows: Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → enable "Let apps access your camera" and make sure Teams is listed and allowed.
Update drivers: Device Manager → Cameras → Update driver (or uninstall and restart — Windows reinstalls automatically).
Mac: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → enable Microsoft Teams.
Clear Teams cache: close Teams, delete %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams cache folders, restart.
Reinstall Teams if nothing works — settings are stored locally and can get corrupted.
